Enzo: The Scar Meme

•January 22, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Before Lorenzo Giovanni was a mage, he was a hitman. Technically, he still is, though he is now the Don of his family, and his House acts as executioner for the Order of Hermes. You’re bound to pick up a few scars when your occupation is combat.

It would be easy to perceive Mage: The Ascension characters as completely broken. They have the ability to bend and shape reality. Their powers are not limited by what is in the book: usually, you just make up the effect you want, and then figure out the rule system in which to make it work. In other words, the game allows your character to basically do ANYTHING. The other denizens from the World of Darkness (vampires, werewolves, demons, etc), often view the Lightening People as extremely dangerous, no matter the skill level.

What these denizens do not understand is the drawback: they can suffer what’s called “Paradox”. When they push the boundaries of reality a little too hard, or even tear reality as we know it wide open, the universe punishes the mage by inflicting damage to his body, and often times his mind and soul as well. They can gain scars, derangements, etc. If the offense is drastic enough, the mage can enter something called “Quiet”, but that is another illustration entirely.

Enzo Meme Series: Twelfth Character Introduction.

•January 9, 2010 • Leave a Comment

This is the second meme in the series of art memes done using my beloved Lorenzo character. Having done this under the influence of a rather debilitating flu thing, i feel that i might regret actually posting this on the internet, as i am somewhat ashamed of the shading job i did. I’m trying to decide if i want to remove the shading and just leave the pencil work. Maybe i will try again when i’m not so sick.

This is Twelfth’s Character Introduction Meme, by, well, Twelfth.  If the tiny text is too tiny, feel free to click the image to make it slightly larger.

Also, apparently Lorenzo shaves with a butter knife, because i’m atrocious at drawing straight razors.

Enzo Meme Series: Interrogation

So I’m currently doing a set of art memes using my character Lorenzo, who, by now, you should be well acquainted with. This is the first of the series, the Character Interrogation Meme, by Ceata88. You’ll have to pardon the lack of contrast, as I currently do not have a way of calibrating my monitors.

Sleeping Under the Stars

Yeah, i’ve been going back through my old scans and FINALLY coloring them. Most of them are from my first year of college. THIS one is a doozy: the lineart is actually by Rachel Fogg, before she started to draw porn exclusively! And it’s of Elisse Hamu’s original dragon character Eylen. Ah, i’m getting all nostalgic.

Drunk in the Dark

Yeah, so this was a totally random drawing done in the dark, while i was drunk. Pencils and inks in one sitting, which i try hard not to do. Coloring was while sober, but i might as well have been drunk.

I suppose it’s kind of Psylocke-esque.

Nekocon 2009 Program Book

•December 28, 2009 • Leave a Comment

since 2007, i’ve been doing illustrations for the Nekocon program book. 2009’s theme was “The Wild West”.

2007’s theme was “Zombies”.

I’ll add the 2008 “island” pictures to this thread when i find them. :3

Panda Needs Ice.

Pandora Tran, who is known as HopesChest online and Panda offline,  is a mage who specializes in magic that works around technology. These mages call themselves Virtual Adepts. She’s a coy, flirty thing.

She’s an oldie but goodie. I created her back in what, 2001? 2002? For a Mage: the Ascension game that ended up never taking off, so i’ve worked her into my DC by Night game.

Here are some far more ancient pictures of her; they served as original concepts, as well as experiments with techniques.

Panda in Ballpoint Pen, after studying Yukito Kishiro and Masamune Shirow inking styles.

This was an early (and poor, might i add) attempt at CG coloring, done with Micrographix Picture Publisher 5, before i was introduced to Photoshop. Perhaps i will attempt this concept again, now that i have some inkling of what i’m doing.

Once upon a time ago, in a galaxy far away,  a college buddy of mine and i started a random collaboration together, and 6 years later, i think i’ve finished it. hahaha. Check her stuff out at her DA.

Lorenzo and Nicolette

SPOILER sort of.  For my Nanowrimo project. Which you guys will see eventually.

Nicolette was Lorenzo’s girlfriend in 1990, 1991. They’re not really together anymore. That’s all i’m saying.
